Grants Pass 42-foot high Christmas Tree!
Come visit the 2010 Annual Grants Pass Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Event - generously sponsored by Pacific Living Centers!
This year marks an even greater holiday event with the lighting of a 41-foot yule tree that was donated by Grants Pass resident George Jones (owner of Grants Pass-based Jones Forest Products, which specializes in harvesting and delivering large fir trees that range in size from 20 to 100 feet tall.)! Many people in this community, especially the businesses of the Towne Center Association, have come together to not only support this community-focused event - but to make it happen!
The tree sports approximately 1200 feet of white LED lights. (That's the length of 4 football fields!) White was chosen for a number of reasons, but this is the first year of this new event. LED lights are very eco-friendly (a single 60 foot strand uses only about 3.5 volts) and they are bright and beautiful.
The actual tree lighting ceremony will start at 7:00 pm and the tree will be lit up by Mayor Murphy. There will be carolers, a local symphony quartet and a lot more!
